Cookies Policy

1. About cookies

1.1 A cookie is a file containing an identifier (a string of letters and numbers) that is sent by a web server to a web browser and is stored by the browser. The identifier is then sent back to the server each time the browser requests a page from the server.

1.2 Cookies may be either “persistent” cookies or “session” cookies: a persistent cookie will be stored by a web browser and will remain valid until its set expiry date, unless deleted by the user before the expiry date; a session cookie, on the other hand, will expire at the end of the user session, when the web browser is closed.

1.3 Besides cookies, a web browser lets a website keep information on your device in its local storage, session storage and offline databases. This policy covers those too, and calls all of them “browser storage”.

1.4 This policy applies to the website at www.tribium.com and to the Tribium applications at their addresses under tribium.com.

2. Cookies that we use

2.1 We use one cookie, and only for authentication: when you sign in to a Tribium application, our sign-in service sets a cookie named “token” on the tribium.com domain. It identifies your signed-in session, so that the applications you use can tell that you are signed in. It serves no purpose once you sign out or the session expires.

2.2 The cookie is strictly necessary for the applications to work: without it you cannot sign in. It is not used for advertising, analysis or tracking, and it is not shared with anyone.

2.3 The website at www.tribium.com sets no cookies.

3. Browser storage that we use

3.1 We use browser storage for the following purposes:

(a) your session - the applications keep your sign-in token in session storage, gone when you close the tab, or, in an application that works offline, in local storage, so that you stay signed in while you have no connection;

(b) your preferences - the website and the applications remember the colour theme you chose (light, dark or that of your device), under a key named after the application, such as “tribium.website.theme”; and

(c) offline work - an application that works without a connection keeps a copy of your data, the changes you have not yet sent and, where it shows a map, the map tiles you have viewed, on your device, until they have been sent to us or you sign out.

3.2 None of it is used for advertising, analysis or tracking.

4. Third parties

4.1 We do not use analytics, advertising or social media cookies, and we do not let advertising networks place cookies through our website or applications.

4.2 Payments for Tribium subscriptions are handled by Paddle.com, our reseller. When you pay, you do so on pages that Paddle provides, and the cookies they use are governed by Paddle’s own policies.

4.3 An application that shows a map loads its map tiles from a third-party map provider. Your browser asks that provider for the tiles directly; we set no cookies for it.

5. Managing cookies

5.1 Most browsers allow you to refuse to accept cookies and to delete cookies and other browser storage. The methods for doing so vary from browser to browser, and from version to version. You can however obtain up-to-date information about blocking and deleting cookies via these links:

(a) https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/95647 (Chrome);

(b) https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/enable-and-disable-cookies-website-preferences (Firefox);

5.2 If you block or delete the “token” cookie, you will not be able to sign in to the Tribium applications. If you delete an application’s browser storage while it holds changes it has not yet sent, those changes are lost.
